The Westerleigh team have recently counted their donations after their Christmas fundraising drive which also caught the attention of some local press. The team chose to do a Food, Present and cash drive, in conjunction with the amazing charity Food4Free which has seen colleagues donate over 100 gifts and raise £600.
The charity is helping the local community. Founded by Daniel & Aimee Waters during the early days of the Covid Pandemic, they started on a one meter table at the front of their house, the need grew larger and so did they, now operating out of a premises in Poole Court – the Yate council offices. They provide much needed provisions to the local community every Tuesday & Friday with an amazing team of volunteers, who work tirelessly to provide an unfortunately necessary service.
Mark Thompson , SHE Coordinator, explained: “ The aim was to raise as many presents and food as we possibly to help their great work. Our team responded amazingly, with the great support of Stefan Demici a senior supervisor, we also raised nearly £600 and over 100 presents in a short time. We will also look to help support Food 4Free throughout the year to assist in the great work that they do by carrying out various fundraisers to help support them. An Easter egg drive and a parachute jump is next on the cards. ”
