The Zeelo team recently presented Westerleigh with a green award which highlights their cut in transport emissions thanks to a new personalised bus service.
Zeelo started working with the site in June and are helping bring colleagues back and forth from the site, supporting those with no access to a car or those looking for a more cost-effective and greener way of getting to work. The scheme costs every employee a small fee a day – helping reduce the cost of fuel I and most importantly the number of individuals journeys made.
Thanks to the scheme, Zeelo have already calculated that since June the equivalent of 2,862 cars have been taken off the road and over 12,400 kilos of C02 has been saved – that’s the same as planting 621 trees.
Konrad Pacholski, Head of Butchery Development, helped set up the new scheme and explained: “Although it’s only been four months since we started working with Zeelo, we are already seeing the impact of this relationship. Many of our colleagues were either taking taxies, joining colleagues, getting lifts or finding other ways to get to work. Thanks to this customised service, we now have a dedicated transport system and are helping make a difference on the environment by reducing the number of cars coming to site – a win win situation.”
Zeelo are the UK’s leading provider of Smart Shuttle services and have delivered over 2.5 million commuting rides for organisations in 2021 – offering clients significant improvements in sustainability, recruitment and retention.
Ed Hiller, Site Director, added: “Thanks to this new relationship, our colleagues no longer have challenges with transport and most importantly, we are helping reduce our carbon footprint. We know how important site responsibility is when it comes to our environmental impact and I am proud to be receiving this award on behalf of the site.”
