We are currently recruiting for a Machine Setter for our PM shift based at Redruth (Monday to Friday 15.00pm – 00.30am)

Job purpose

To ensure that all equipment on the line is operated correctly and efficiently, whilst carrying out appropriate frontline maintenance to maintain and improve the equipment performance and maximise product output whilst maintaining product quality.

To support and act as a deputy to the Key Operator in making sure the line is constantly and consistently running to a high standard by proactively identifying issues and taking action to resolve them in a timely manner. Perform on behalf of your Key Operator when required by leading, supporting and advising the line team through good communications and following company procedures to ensure quality and quantity levels are to the required standard.

Key Accountabilities:-

Setting up and maintaining the line and its machines (including its computer equipment) at the beginning of the shift and throughout.

Ensuring the line is adjusted to the required position for each specific job on the plan.

Ensure the machines and line runs to optimum efficiency by investigating downtime and ensuring corrective action is implemented through SIC (Short Interval Control) reviews and PPM Systems.

Proactively identify and resolve any issues on the line and it’s machines to ensure they are resolved in a timely manner.

Ensure understanding of KPIs to enable you to work towards these as both an individual and encouraging the line team to meet these with support from the Key Operator.

Endeavour to keep waste levels to an absolute minimum and continuously work to reduce these levels.

Overseeing line activity, by ensuring all aspects of the line are running at the correct pace.

Carryout paperwork for the line in the absence of your Key Operator or in support of their duties.

Help the line team to ensure that general line tasks are carried out to a high standard, including packing and assembling goods onto pallets for dispatch.

Cleaning and maintaining machinery and work areas to be at a high standard at all times.

You must have full understanding of the sites Food Safety, HACCP, QA and Hygiene Standards whilst also carrying out safety checks or risk assessments when required.

Attend daily meetings when required or in the absence of the Key Operator.

Understand the customer standards and specifications for each product to ensure the line minimises any complaints or rejections by maintaining the quality of product and packaging at all times.

Maintain a constant understanding of changes and adaptations made to the equipment or machinery on the line. Ensure any changes are cascaded to individuals in the team where appropriate

Ideal Skills/experience required:-

Team player, Proactive self-starter with strong interpersonal, prioritisation and communication skills

Operation of the Slicer and other machinery

Good Mechanical Background

Flexible working attitude to ensure the line is covered in roles where required

Proactive with a positive attitude

Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
