We are seeking a Process Technologist to join the team at Pilgrim’s Corsham!

Reporting to the Process Development Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the transition of new product concepts for retailer and third-party customers, from scale up factory trials to launch. There is also involvement in existing product and process development.

A key part of the Process Development Technologist role is to plan, co-ordinate and facilitate factory trials, with the aim of confirming suitability of process and ingredients, whilst meeting required finished product standards. Throughout this process, you will be required to keep documentation for trials and relay findings and data back to the site team. Key considerations throughout this process relate to food safety, health and safety, yield, cost and efficiency. You will also be required to communicate extensively with internal operational staff, supervisors and managers, with different sites within the group, and with ingredient and packaging suppliers. The day to day role will be challenging, however you will be rewarded with a wide variety of tasks, and the opportunity to develop your skills and career.

You must:

Work well under pressure and to deadlines

Work well in a team, and be able to build strong relationships internally and externally

Possess good IT skills; MS Excel, MS Word, MS Publisher

Have strong written and verbal communication skills

Have prior food industry experience

You should be:

Capable of dealing with setbacks and problems

Although not essential, it would be advantageous if you have knowledge/experience of:

Cooked meat manufacturing

Thermal process validation/verification

HACCP and food safety

Functional ingredients; preservatives, phosphates, starch

Product microbiology, and nutritional testing

Product/process development for OL retailer or branded products

The working hours for this are Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 5pm, however flexibility will be required based on trial requirements.
