We have an exciting opportunity for a Product Quality & Compliance Manager to join the Spalding Technical team.

The successful candidate will report to the Technical Manager and be a key member of the Site’s Technical and Operations teams – providing leadership and direction for colleagues working across all areas / Departments on site as well as overseeing a team of QAs and support roles.

Hours of work will be 40 per week, Monday to Friday with the flexibility to do reasonable overtime where required by the business.

Job purpose

To lead and manage the quality assurance function and to ensure all operating areas are complaint with food safety, quality and specification standards / expectations. Factory-based, the role will have technical interface with the operational team and will be an expert on quality assurance and compliance being delivered to the highest standard.

Key Requirements

Lead in promoting a Food Safety and Quality Culture

Take a lead role in customer visits and third-party audits

Ensure calibration and equipment verification schedule is in place and non-conforming equipment is managed

Coordinates CCP validation and verification activities

Control of non-conforming materials is in place – quarantine, corrective action and release procedures

Ensure that quality is monitored, product is released from site by appropriate methods such as inspection and organoleptic panelling

Active member of the internal audit team and instrumental in ensuring that start up checks, fabrication audits and glass/hard plastics audits are delivering control

Facts and data to be utilised to identify adverse trends, responding to with route cause investigation, corrective action and conclusion.

Involvement in implementation of new systems and technology across the site/group

Lead the quality team and ensure that the site maintains a proactive quality improvement plan

Develops the site product sampling schedule to ensure that micro and chemical testing is compliant/aligned with legislation, customer codes of practice and product specifications

Actively searches for cost reduction without compromising standards

Actively promote and deliver good health and safety working conditions and practices

Work closely with production teams to maximise yield whilst producing to specification

Lead unannounced product quality to specifications with the site management team

Lead analytical studies targeting process improvement
