We are currently recruiting a Quality Systems Technologist to join the Technical Team at our Abattoir site in Ashton.

The role presents opportunities for development and progression within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key accountabilities include collating and trending food safety & quality data, collaborating with other departments to drive Food Safety and Quality Culture and assisting the maintenance of the Quality Management System.

The key responsibilities of the successful candidate will be to:

Involvement with Food Safety & Quality initiatives – engagement with projects and training programs to ensure continual personal development.

Supporting the Technical Services Manager in maintenance and development of the site QMS.

Collaborating with other departments on Food Safety, Quality and Culture – engaging on quality and food safety developments in line with business, customer and legal requirements.

Administrating and trending data surrounding compliance systems, including compliance, customer complaints, microbiological testing and animal welfare.

Supporting in customer visits and third-party audits.

Organization of Food Safety & Quality KPI reporting – for both site-based and customer reports.

Customer interfacing, upholding good customer relationships including raw material specifications and questionnaire requests.

Assisting with Root Cause Analysis, working in line with Operational Excellence methods (5S, Lean)

Work in partnership with the QA team on any process changes, improvements or introduction of new ways of working.

To work within the appropriate Health and Safety procedures to promote safe practices environment.

Skills and Experience

Quality/Technical experience within food, beverage or agri industries.

Strong communication skills and engagement mindset – ability to collaborate and work as part of a team and with customers.

Skilled in administration and analytical IT skills (trending, data analysis).

Versed in both Team and Independent working. Desire to utilize training for personal and team development.

Critical thinking and analytical skills – ability to review data and processes for gap analysis.

Must have a good level of English literacy and numeracy. It is a must to be able to write clearly and legibly in English.

Desirable Qualifications [Accredited]To hold or be working towards level 3 Food Safety

To hold or be working towards level 3 HACCP

Internal Auditing Experience

Strong IT Literacy – Word, Excel, Outlook

Understanding of operational based systems desirable – e.g. SAP

Food or Science related degree desirable.
