Pilgrim’s UK has been awarded Best Bacon Product, for our Coop Air Dry Cured Smoked Back Bacon Rashers, for the second year running during the Meat Management Meat Industry Awards 2021.

The business faced stiff competition but triumphed to take home the award during the ceremony which was hosted by Kevin Keegan OBE. The awards celebrate winners and finalists across 20 different categories of which Pilgrim’s UK was shortlisted for eight honours this year.

The gongs recognise the best manufacturers and producers, suppliers, retailers and butchers in the UK meat sector, and are voted for by the readers of the magazine, plus various categories judged by experts.

Andrew Cracknell, CEO, attended the event and explained: “We are proud to once again win this award and I want to thank all the Pilgrim’s UK family for their collective efforts to help bring home the Bacon. The competition was strong this year, our Air Dry Cured Smoked Back Bacon is well known and its reputation is growing more and more. To win this award two years in a row is amazing.

“However, I want to especially thank the Redruth team and the Coop team on the development of this outstanding product. To win in such a key category is a great achievement.”

Throughout the various categories the awards reflect everything that is exceptional across the whole UK industry. Pilgrim’s UK was also nominated for:

• Manufacturer of the Year Award

• Excellence Award – Rachel Griffiths

• Training Scheme of the Year

• Best Pork / Pig meat Product

• Best Lamb Product

• Britain’s Best Burger

• Best Beef Product

The UK’s biggest meat industry awards ceremony is back as an in-person event after taking place online last year as a direct result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Andrew added: “I would like to congratulate all the winners across the sector and the organisers for hosting such an amazing event. It was great to be back in person this year and celebrate our successes. We are already looking forward to next year and wining even more awards.”
