We’re working hard to minimise our production resources and our environmental footprint. Sustainable plastics and packaging are essential to the integrity of our products.
We want to be the best in preventing food and packaging waste through the whole supply chain, including collaboration and partnerships with diverse suppliers.
To that end, we’re promoting a circular economy for responsibly sourced packaging. Our targets and focus are guided by six principles to help us:
Remove unnecessary single use plastic from Pilgrim’s UK operated facilities by 2021 and all single use black plastic from completed products.
Reduce the packaging used per kilogram of our production every year.
Re-use: We’re exploring opportunities for solutions with our customers that mean our packaging can be used again.
Recycle: We’ve set targets to increase recycling across all categories.
Responsibly source all packaging materials where possible Ensure all paper and card has Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certification.
Research sustainable packaging, including alternative, non-plastic materials. Working with academic and supply chain partners to develop sustainable packaging that complements our products.
