Pilgrim’s UK was celebrating British Sandwich Week last week (22 – 28 May) with an internal competition for all our colleagues across the business. And we are proud to announce first place goes to Jack Cooper, Development Chef at Linton, for his Pilgrim’s Stack.

Sam Reader, Head of Innovation & NPD – Commercial, helped judge the competition and explained: “We are thrilled to give Jack the top spot. He used eight key ingredients to fill his sandwich which link to every letter of the word Pilgrim’s. This unique idea combined some very interesting tastes all of which complimented one another. A £200 love to shop vouchers is heading your way.”

The ingredients included Pork schnitzel breaded, Iceberg lettuce, Latke potato cake, Garlic mayonnaise, Red Leicester cheese, IPA glazed bacon, Mustard and Sausages.

Entrants were asked to create their favourite sandwich using a Pilgrim’s UK products – such as ham, bacon pulled pork etc – take a photo and then email it to the team.

Rebecca Hinton, Commercial Manager, added: “British Sandwich Week was a great way to highlight our love for sandwiches, in all shapes and forms, across the country and the business. But we wanted to do something different this year and that is why we launched this competition. It was hard to pick the winners, but we managed to get it down to the top three at the end. A huge congratulations to all the winners and everybody that sent their entries. Finally, thank you to all our colleagues who supported the week and the competition.”

The British Sandwich & Food to Go Association, the trade body established in 1990 to represent the interests of all those businesses involved with the food on the move industry, organises the week every year. Members range from supermarkets and food to go manufacturers to sandwich bars, cafes and the suppliers of ingredients and equipment for the industry.
