We are pleased to announce that Pilgrim’s UK has once again been recognised for our sustainability work after winning the Pioneer in Ethics & Sustainability Award at this year’s Co-op Pioneer Awards.

The accolades recognise the achievements of those working within the Co-op supply chain who have made strides and achievements in several categories. The business was also shortlisted for the Pioneer in Diversity & Inclusion Award.

Zoë Bruce, Co-op Customer Director, Andy York, Human Rights Manager and Kate Roddy, Agriculture & Sustainability Manager, were all on hand to collect the award.

Zoë explained: “This award recognises our commitment to sustainability across multiple initiatives. Judges were particularly impressed with our work on water stewardship, our high welfare product assessments, our partnerships to develop a net zero roadmap and our work on enhanced biodiversity.

“I am very proud of our team for once again having our close work with Co-op highlighted. It was also pleasing to see our Diversity & Inclusion efforts flagged. I know how passionate the Co-op team are about sustainability and ethics, so to be acknowledged by them is a huge win we should all be proud of.”

This was the 15th Annual Pioneer Awards for over 1200 Partners and Suppliers which was held in Manchester.

Matt Dight, Head of Sustainability, added: “I was thrilled to hear we took home yet another award which means even more coming from one of our most important business partners. Our hard work and commitment towards achieving our sustainability goals is visibly paying off and I want to thank everyone across the business for working and supporting our aims.”
