Pilgrim’s UK is pleased to announce that the business has been shortlisted for two Grocer Gold Awards which includes Supply Chain Initiative of the Year, for our recent Human Rights Impact Assessment (HRIA) work, and Own Label Supplier of the Year. The good news follows on from last year’s success where Zaggy Zachariou clinched the Factory Manager of the Year gong.

Andy York, Human Rights Manager, explained: “We are thrilled to have our human rights work recognised by the Grocer Gold Awards. We conducted our HRIA across our integrated pork and lamb supply chains, alongside key retail partners Waitrose and Co-op – a vast piece of work we are extremely proud of. The results demonstrate the impact of our practices on farmers, colleagues and stakeholders in our supply chain – as well as providing an action plan to focus our work moving forward. This shortlisting gives us a platform to build on and a nod of approval from industry leaders. We look forward to seeing the results on the 4th July and fingers crossed.”

Other finalists for the same award include Charlie Bighams, Kepak Consumer Foods and Zeus.

The honors, which recognise the very best standards in grocery retail, will celebrate the extraordinary achievements of companies and individuals during another challenging year for the sector. With the help of expert judges, the team whittled down hundreds of entries to present the Gold Awards shortlist.

Ian Bagnall, Managing Director – Added Value, said: “This is amazing news for our Own Label team, an award which would recognise the efforts of everyone across our Own Label function. I know it will be tough and we will be facing some stiff competition, but to walk away with this gong will give us even more momentum to replicate and grow on our already outstanding reputation.”

The other finalists include Albert Bartlett, Angus Soft Fruits, Dunbia and LDH (La Doria).

The awards will be held at Royal Albert Hall, London, on the 4th July and are attending by some of the leading names in the industry. To learn more about the awards and see the full list of finalists for all the categories, visit the Grocer Gold website.
