We are pleased to announce that the business has once again been recognised for our people credentials after winning the Highly Commended honour at the Co-op Treating People Fairly Awards.

The accolade recognises organisations and their achievements which champion the best labour standards in the Co-op supply chain. Acting responsibly towards workers who make their products and being proud of how they behave towards the very people who make their business tick.

Andy York, Human Rights Manager, was on hand to collect the award and explained: “This award recognises our commitment to our people. Judges were particularly impressed with our work within our Human Rights Impact Assessment report. I am very proud of our team for once again having our close work with Co-op highlighted. I know how committed Co-op are to treating people fairly and helping many to elevate themselves.”

There was some tough competition and business fought off some inspirational organisations which have helped advance their people.

Andy added: “ We’re committed to raising awareness of workers’ rights and, while the meat industry has historically come up against perception challenges in this area, we want to do all we can to overturn those challenges by going further in understanding our supply chains and supporting workers. It is also important to thank our colleagues for their continued commitment and awareness around human rights. Our people are our biggest asset and that’s why as a business we are making strides to ensure treating everyone fairly is one of our biggest priorities.”
