Pilgrim’s UK is pleased to announce the winners from our inaugural OpEx Awards (Operational Excellence) which took place on 22 February. The King’s Lynn team walked away with not one, not two, but three awards which included the prestigious Best Site Award as well the SHE Pillar and Engineering Pillar Award.

The People Pillar Award was shared by Redruth and Bodmin, with Redruth also winning the Management Pillar Award, Corsham also joined the success story by walking away with the Technical Pillar Award.

OpEx leads from every site were joined by Site Directors, members of the Executive Team and Ivan Siqueira, President of Pilgrim’s UK, for a celebration and recognition of our growth and development across the business. Sites have been going through rigorous internal audits to determine which have excelled and surpassed expectations.

King’s Lynn Site Director, David Parker, was on hand to collect the awards and explained: “To win any award during this inaugural celebration would have been a big achievement but to walk away with three awards, including the prestigious Best Site Award, is outstanding and great reflection of all our hard work. I want to thank the auditors for recognising our commitment and enthusiasm towards OpEx. I also want to thank everyone on site for helping us reach this milestone – this has truly been a team effort and one which we should be very proud of as a site.”

Carlos Silva, Operational Excellence Director, explained: “I want to congratulate all our winners today and every site for trying so hard. King’s Lynn should be very proud of themselves for not only winning but making huge strides towards improving their operations. The team at King’s Lynn are also helping set a benchmark for others to follow and look up to. However, today was not only about the awards, it was also a chance for us to share best practice, understand better why OpEx is fundamental to our business aims and see what the future holds.”

Shaun Kay, Operations Director, added: “I want to take a moment to thank everyone across the business for working hard and supporting our OpEx colleagues. You have all worked tirelessly over the last year and these awards is also our way of saying thank you. It was a pleasure to see so many happy faces and colleagues congratulating one another. I am already looking forward to all the exciting plans sites have planned for 2022 and seeing everyone again next year for another celebration and awards ceremony.”
