Alf Turner and Tulip Ltd have sold over 3.4m of the famous Dragon’s Scotch Egg since mass production began in 2013.

Tulip Ltd produces the majority of Alf Turner’s fresh products at its specialist snacking site at Ruskington, which has been fundamental in helping the scotch eggs reach a wide consumer audience in the UK.

Following a successful pitch on the BBC’s ‘Dragon’s Den’ seven years ago and subsequent investment from Peter Jones, Alf Turner began working with Tulip Ltd to bring their products to consumers across the UK.

Paul Turner, Owner of Alf Turner Butchers, said: “We’re over the moon to have reached this considerable milestone. The best-selling Dragon’s Scotch Egg has been a driver of our sales and collaborating with Tulip has been a great way to bring the product to a wider audience across the UK.”

Last year, Tulip Ltd invested £2.3m in its specialist snacking site at Ruskington to support increased demand for core traditional products.

Julian Weeks, Customer Director at Tulip Ltd said: “We’re always looking to bring innovative products to market and working with Alf Turner has allowed us do this – with their Dragon’s Scotch Egg proving a real hit with consumers. We’ve recently invested further in our Ruskington site, providing us with enhanced capability and capacity, better equipping the site to meet the demands for further growth in the snacking category.”

The award-winning Alf Turner butchers was opened in Aldershot, the home of the British Army, in 1956 by Alf Turner, who served in the Royal Army Corp for nearly 20 years. These strong military connections led to the partnership between Alf Turner and Help for Heroes, who support those with injuries and illnesses attributable to their service in the British Armed Forces.

Alf Turner has now helped to raise a massive £208,622 for Help for Heroes. The Alf Turner Company donates 2p from the sale price of each pack of its products, including scotch eggs, sausages and pork scratchings.
